The Rotary Foundation was formally established in 1928 and made its first grant in 1930 for $500. Today, The Rotary Foundation contributes more than $100 million annually to causes that improve the lives of millions of disadvantaged people in over 165 countries.
The Rotary Club of Edina has a long history of support for The Rotary Foundation. Rotarians who donate $1,000 are recognized as Paul Harris Fellows. The majority of our club members are Paul Harris Fellows, Multiple Paul Harris Fellows or Major Donors.
Our club’s objectives are:
- To educate club members about The Rotary Foundation, Paul Harris Fellows, The Paul Harris Society, Bequest Society and Foundation Grants
- To encourage every Rotarian to give to The Rotary Foundation every year and strive for 100 percent participation
- To share with others the story of the great work The Rotary Foundation is doing world wide
In 2011, Joel and Mary Lee Jennings were honored as the Club's first Level 3 Major Donors. Watch the award ceremony and hear Joel's comments as to why they contribute to Rotary:
