Rotary’s Council on Legislation met earlier this year, resulting in a new standard club constitution, Rotary clubs’ guiding document.

As a result, our club’s bylaws must be amended and our practice strengthened for following up with members who are delinquent in paying their dues. At its August meeting, the club’s Board of Directors approved the following change to the bylaws:

Probationary members are Rotarians who have broken one or more of the Rotary Club of Edina’s policies or who have fallen behind in payments by 90 days. Unless the Board of Directors decides otherwise, a member is classified as “Probationary” for six months after the Board determines that he or she broke a policy or until his or her account is paid in full.

Any Probationary Member who breaks a Rotary Club of Edina policy or fails to provide payment within 10 days of the date of notification of non-payment shall be deemed to have resigned as a member of the club. The Board may reinstate a former member to membership upon the former member’s petition and payment of all indebtedness to the club.

The majority of the club membership in attendance at a Thursday luncheon meeting must ratify the change to the bylaws.

If you have any questions about the change prior to the vote, please contact Past President Jennifer Bennerotte, 612-201-3467 or jbennerotte@EdinaRotary.org.
