The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Brigadier General Greg A. Haase as program speaker at the Thursday, Aug. 27, meeting. Haase is the the Vice Director Domestic Operations and Force Development for the National Guard Bureau. He will speak about "The Economy: A Pillar of of National Power."
 
Brigadier General Greg A Haase will be the program speaker at the Thursday, Aug. 27, Rotary Club of Edina meeting. Haase is the the Vice Director Domestic Operations and Force Development for the National Guard Bureau. He will speak about "The Economy: A Pillar of of National Power."
 
As the Vice Director Domestic Operations and Force Development, General Haase coordinates and facilitates the missions and operations for homeland defense, defense support to civil authorities and mission assuredness of critical infrastructure. Key elements of the directorate include current operations, counterdrug, force protection, future operations, cyberspace, joint exercised and combating weapons of mass destruction. His prior assignment was director of U.S. European Command's Joint Interagency Counter Trafficking Center. The center supports U.S. interagency and country team efforts to counter illicit trafficking and transnational threats. The center builds partnership capacity and defends the homeland forward with counter narcotics, counter proliferation and counter threat finance operations in support of command priorities.
 
General Haase graduated from North Dakota State University in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He then enlisted in the N.D. Air National Guard and attended Avionics Aerospace training at Lowry Air Force Base. After completing the course as an honor graduate in 1984, he trained as a guardsman on the F-4 Phantom while pursuing a master's degree in civil engineering. 
 
He was selected for undergraduate pilot training with the 133rd Airlift Wing in 1985. He completed the course as an "Academic Ace" in 1987. After working full-time assignments as scheduler and chief of training,  he became chief pilot of standards and evaluations for the Operations Group in 1996. In 1998, he was selected as the 109th Airlift Squadron commander, his first of three, non-deployed, command assignments to include the Maintenance Group and the Airlift Wing. 
 
He has won numerous awards and decorations. He was promoted to Brigadier General Aug. 1, 2013. 
 
The Rotary Club of Edina meets at 12:15 p.m. Thursdays at the Edina Country Club. All are welcome. Cost for lunch and the program is $19.
