The program speaker for the April 30 meeting is Dave Lee of WCCO Radio. Guests and Rotarians will enjoy his stories of his years in the radio business, and he'll share some anecdotes about his good friend Sid Hartman. Lee is the popular, long-time host of The Morning News on WCCO Radio. He has been with WCCO Radio for more than 20 years. He was nominated as one of the Top 5 Major Market Morning Hosts nationwide. He has also won Murrows, Associated Press awards and six consecutive Minnesota Broadcaster of the Year awards. His former station in North Dakota won the prestigious Peabody Award.

Lee contributes both his time and talent to several charities. His annual Friday morning bowling tournament, “Gutter Bowl,” has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities. Three years ago, Lee and his wife, Julie, funded a scholarship at the University of Minnesota Journalism School. He has been honored nationally by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, served as the host of the Drive for Kids for Bolder Options and youth mentoring and raised funds to adopt a room at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital. He is also actively involved with the Federated Challenge for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Minnesota.

Lee is also the award-winning voice of the University of St. Thomas football team. He spent 13 years with the University of Minnesota football and basketball programs and five years as a play-by-play fill-in announcer for the Minnesota Twins. He was a part of the 1991 World Series broadcasts. Dave has also been the TV broadcaster for the Minnesota High School League State football and basketball tournaments for several years and has been awarded two Emmys for his work.

Lee and Julie live in the Twin Cities metro area and are the parents of three children.
