The Aug. 4 Rotary meeting was held under a tent on a beautiful afternoon at Express Metals, 8094 Excelsior Blvd., Hopkins, not so far from Bunnies if any of you need to get your bearings.

The meeting was called to order by President Ann Platt, to a thunderous applause. Ann recognized those helping at the meeting and Buzz Bainbridge gave the invocation. What he also mentioned was that on this day in the year 1693, Dom Perignon invented champagne and was known to have said, “Come quickly, I am drinking the stars!”

Our host and speaker for the event was our own Libby Schmit, general manager of Express Metals.

Express Metal’s motto is “Cash in a flash for your metal trash." The company lives by that motto and continually strives to improve their processes so that commercial and residential customers alike can drive in, unload metal products and get paid in a very short amount of time.

Now you are wondering, what exactly can I bring to Express Metals and get paid for bringing it? Ready? Lawn mowers, snow blowers, engines, BBQ grills, washers, dryers, electric motors plumbing pipe, car batteries, extension cords, Christmas lights, and the list goes on! Very few things are not accepted—check the website.

The presentation was very interesting and well-presented, including a complete tour of the facility.

The best part; keeping scrap metal out of the landfill and getting paid for doing it!
