Edina, Minnesota, Feb. 2, 2015 - The Interact Club of Edina and its community partners will host a "Skate to End Polio: 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 at Braemar Arena. 
 
The fundraiser will follow the varsity boys' game between Edina and Eden Prairie in the west rink of the arena, 5701 Ikola Way. Participants will enjoy open skating, great music and special lighting at this Valntines day weekend event. 
 
Tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for children. they can be purchased the day of he event or in advance by contacting Rotarian Josh Sprague, josh@joshsprague.com. Tickets will also be availble at the Feb. 4 and 11 meetings of the Rotary Club of Edina. 
 
All proceeeds will go towards Rotary's End Polio Now campaign, which began in 1985 and has raised more than $1.3 billion toward the elimination of this deadly and crippling childhook disease. As of 1985, polio affected 350,000 people in 125 countries. As of 2015, polio had been 99 percent elminated, with less than 100 cases in only two countries. 
 
 
The Interact Club's skate-a-thon is sponsored by the Edina Hockey Association, Rotary Club of Edina, Edina Morningside Rotary Club, and Braemar Arena.

About interact
Interact is a club for young people ages 12 to 18 who want to join together and tackle issues in their community that they care most about. The Interact Club of Edina was chartered at Edina High School earlier this year and is sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Edina and Edina Morningside. Every Interact Club carries out at least two service projects a year: one that helps ther school or community and one that promotes internation understanding.
