As pop music critic for the Star Tribune, Jon Bream has attended more than 7,000 concerts, interviewed the King of Pop (Michael Jackson), the Queen of Soul (Aretha Franklin), Prince, Bob Dylan, U2, three Beatles, four Rolling Stones and all of Maroon 5. He has performed with Alice Cooper, jogged with Willie Nelson and smoked with Paul McCartney. His reviews and features have been published in countless newspapers and magazines from the Boston Globe to the Los Angeles Times and from Billboard to Vibe. Bream is the author of four books—the best-selling biographies “Prince: Inside the Purple Reign” (1984), “Whole Lotta Led Zeppelin” (2008, now published in seven languages) and “Neil Diamond Is Forever” (2009) -- and the just published “Dylan: Disc by Disc” (2015), in which he moderates discussions between various experts about each of Bob Dylan’s studio albums. He has a journalism degree from the University of Minnesota, though some of his readers have suggested that he take some music appreciation courses.
