The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Star Tribune editor Judy Keen as program speaker at the Thursday, March 23, meeting. Keen will speak about "Covering Politics in a New Era." Keen was previously on staff with USA Today, and covered three presidents, five presidential campaigns and numerous breaking news stories.

New members Nash Faulk and Scott Hawkins will be officially inducted into the club at the meeting.
 
Judy Keen came to the Star Tribune three years ago after more than 20 years on the staff of USA Today. In addition to covering three presidents, five presidential campaigns and numerous breaking news stories, she served as the paper’s Chicago bureau chief.


During her tenure at USA Today, Keen covered the first Iraq war, traveled to Somalia three times before, during and after the U.S. military intervention there, and traveled across the Soviet Union and through Siberia as the country was coming unraveled in the 1990s. She also covered the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the deadly tornado in Joplin, Mo., and many other breaking news stories.

At the Star Tribune, Keen headed the national coverage of the 2016 campaign and is responsible for national and world coverage in the newspaper’s A section. She grew up in Austin, Minn.

The Rotary Club of Edina meets Thursdays at the Edina Country Club. All are welcome to attend. Cost for lunch and the program is $20 for adults, $12 for children. Cash and checks are accepted at the door. Credit cards won't be accepted for lunch payment at the this meeting.
