The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Boyd Huppert as program speaker at the Thursday, July 16, meeting. Huppert is a reporter at KARE 11 television in the Twin Cities, and reports on "The Land of 10,000 Stories" for the station. Jim Roberts will be officially inducted into the club at the meeting.
 
 
Boyd Huppert will be the program speaker at the Thursday, July 16, Rotary Club of Edina meeting. Huppert is a news reporter at KARE 11 television station in the Twin Cities, and works on the "Land of 10,000 Stories" features. 
 
Huppert got his start in broadcasting as a 16-year-old announcer at his hometown radio station, WEVR in River Falls, Wisconsin. He majored in journalism and political science at UW-River Falls and began his television career in 1984 at WSAW-TV in Wausau. Boyd worked at two more TV stations, KETV in Omaha and WITI in Milwaukee, before joining KARE 11 in 1996.

In 2014, Boyd was honored with two national Edward R. Murrow Awards for feature and hard news reporting, his 11th and 12th national Murrows. He's also the recipient of the 2014 Scripps Howard Award, the 2006 national Emmy for feature reporting and multiple National Headliner and Sigma Delta Chi Awards.
In 2007 Boyd was awarded a national Emmy for feature reporting.
 
Huppert has worked on the "Land of 10,000 Stories" at KARE 11 for 11 years. In 2015, he embarked on a summer trip to reconnect with some of his and viewer's favorite people from his segments over the years. 
 
Boyd and his wife Sheri have two sons, Sam and Matt, both out writing stories of their own.

The Rotary Club of Edina meets at 12:15 p.m. Thursdays at the Edina Country Club. All are welcome. Cost for lunch and the program is $19 for adults, $12 for children.
