Periodically we feature a newer member of the Rotary Club of Edina on our website. The Rotary Club of Edina welcomed Hannelore Brucker as a member in July 2016. Hannelore's sponsor to the club was Josh Sprague. Click on the link to get to know Hannelore...

Name: Hannelore A. Brucker

Classification: Medicine–Allergy (retired). Operated a private allergy office for 32 years, for 20 years with my husband, Dr. Heinrich K. Brucker, and after his passing, for 12 years as solo practitioner. Now I am involved in research for a National Allergy Meeting presentation. I will try to stay in research-oriented activities and will look for further practical work in the allergy field.

What was your first job? Helping my father in his medical office when I was a teenager.

Who was your first role model and why? Albert Schweitzer, theologian, physician and renowned organ player. My dream was to join his mission in Lambarene, then Belgish Kongo, in Africa. My contact came through a home town group, called “Friends of Albert Schweitzer.”

Why did you want to join Rotary? I am looking forward to the fellowship and hope to contribute doing good for my fellow human beings.

What do you like best about being part of the Rotary Club of Edina? Every time I attended I was impressed with the friendliness of the members towards me as a newcomer.

What one piece of advice do you offer other business leaders? What I learned as a physician in problem solving was listening, listening and again listening.

Thanks for joining the Rotary Club of Edina, Hannelore!
