Notes from the President

We are working with Edina Country Club to resolve the audio issues, which I agree are very distracting at meetings. ECC staff have found issues with some defective cords and are checking out their total audio system. We will also be discontinuing the taping of our speakers effective at this week's meeting.

 

We are 10 days away from our annual Fundraiser & Gala! This is the club's only fundraiser for the Edina Rotary Foundation and its success will determine the amount of grants that can be awarded both locally and internationally. Through your gifts, our club is committed to supporting projects in our local and global communities that will improve the lives of those less fortunate. Examples of local organizations that have benefited from our support include: Alzheimer's Association, Cornerstone, Edina Give & Go, CornerHouse, Fraser Center, VEAP weekend lunch program, and Southdale YMCA, to name only a few. Our 2016–2017 Signature Project is the furnishing of a community room at 66 West, an apartment complex for young adults who have experienced homelessness. On a global level, our club has initiated and completed several water and sanitation projects in East Africa and Central and South America. We have also collaborated with clubs and districts throughout the world in addressing issues such as polio eradication, maternal and child health and economic development.
 
The 2016 Fundraiser could not have happened if it were not for the leadership of Co-Chairs Sam Thompson and Leann Stessman. Thank you, Sam, Leann and the team that have planned a memorable evening. Hope to have all of you in attendance or in spirit at the "New York State of Mind" Fundraiser & Gala Oct. 1!
