The Rotary Club of Edina, along with all Area 3 Rotary clubs, will host the annual Veterans Luncheon this Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Edina Country Club. The keynote speaker at the event will be retired Major General Paul Rehkamp and the emcee is WCCO's Dave Mona. U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar will also speak at the event. Registration and social hour begins at 11:10 a.m., featuring the Rotary Brass Quintet. The lunch and program will begin at 11:30. 
 
There is no Rotary Club of Edina meeting this Thursday, Nov. 12. 
 
The Rotary Club of Edina, along with all clubs in Area 3, will host the Rotary Veterans Luncheon on Veterans' Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Edina Country Club, Edina Country Club, 5100 Wooddale Ave. 
 
Our club is one of eight southwest metro Rotary clubs in District 5950, including clubs in Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina and Richfield, along with Rotary Club of South Minneapolis Metro Evenings, to sponsor this special Veterans Day Luncheon to honor those who have served our country. The keynote speaker at this event is retired Major General Paul Rehkamp and the emcee is WCCO's Dave Mona. U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar will also speak at the luncheon. Registration and social hour, featuring music by the Rotary Brass Quintet, starts at 11:10 a.m., with lunch and the program kicking off at 11:30.
 
Rehkamp will be the keynote speaker. Rehkamp retired as a Major General with 35 years of Army service. He commanded the 12,000 soldier, 88th Army Reserve Command at Fort Snelling and later served on the Department of the Army Staff in the Pentagon. For more than 45 years, Rehkamp has been a funeral director in Marshall, Minnesota, where he served on boards of the Community First Bank, Marshall Board of Education, The Marshall Industries Foundation, The Southwest Minnesota State University Foundation and Marshall Area YMCA. He was a partner in a firm that developed 19 restaurants in three states. He served on the Metropolitan Airports Commission from 1993 to 2015.

Klobuchar will also speak as part of the program. She was the first woman to be elected as a U.S. senator for Minnesota and is one of 20 female senators serving in the 113th United States Congress. She previously served as the county attorney for Hennepin County and was a legal adviser to former Vice President Walter Mondale. She has been named by The New York Times as one of the 17 women most likely to become the first female President of the United States, and by MSNBC and The New Yorker as a possible nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court.
 
The program will be videotaped and broadcast on government and public access channels in Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina and Richfield. It will also be posted online.
 
Each Rotarian was invited to bring up to two veterans as guests of our club. Registration for the luncheon is now closed. Senior Active and Honorary Rotarians who are veterans may attend free of charge. Cost for guests that are not veterans will be $25. Payment can be made at the door, or charged on members' next quarterly invoice. The Veterans Luncheon will take the place of our club’s regular meeting that week, so there is no additional cost for regular Rotary Club of Edina members to attend. Senior Active and Honorary members who are not veterans will be charged the usual $19.
