Edina Rotarians, family and friends rang the bell at the Salvation Army red kettle at Jerry's Foods in Edina from Dec. 19 through 23. Dan Hallberg once again chaired the project for our club with the help of Wayne Harmon, and has shared the final results the bell ringers raised. Our kettles gathered a total of $7,068 during the five days, including $2,631 on "Ring for Joel Day" Dec 21.

"Ring for Joel Day" honored longtime Rotarian Joel Jennings by ringing in his name, and all the donations received in the red kettle that day were matched.

Dan and Wayne wanted to thank everyone who covered the 14 two-hour shifts all that week. The volunteers included:

  • Monday, Dec. 19—Ann Platt, Jim Platt, Sam Cote, MJ Cote, Greg Yoch, and Gary Pedersen
  • Tuesday, Dec. 20—Bob Perkins, Terry Stevens, Les Jones, Teresa Christensen, Jennifer Garske and Karla Wennerstrom
  • Wednesday, Dec. 21—Tom Ries, Valerie Burke, Paul Mooty, Paul Peterson, Marty Kupper, André Brewer, Terry Stevens and Hannelore Brucker
  • Thursday, Dec. 22—Bob Solheim, Dave Hatzung, Brad Beard, Skip Thomas, Jody Kern and Kim Stoner
  • Friday, Dec. 23—Jon Barnett, Dan Hallberg and Josh Sprague and family

This is our 10th year of Edina Rotary serving the Salvation Army in our community. Dan and Wayne look forward to keep ringing for the Salvation Army in the future!

Thanks to Dan and Wayne for their efforts coordinating the volunteers, and providing support each day at the red kettle. Also thanks to everyone who stopped by to toss in some change and support your fellow Rotarians and the Salvation Army!
