MACV is a non-profit organization that has been assisting veterans for more than 25 years. In 2013, MACV comprehensively served 1,785 veterans and their families throughout Minnesota who were homeless or experiencing a crisis that could lead to homelessness. MACV has been a sponsor of the Suits for Soldiers program, which ensures veterans have suitable clothing for job interviews. Through clothing drives such as the one organized by Edina Rotary, clothing is also given to veterans’ families.

The clothing collected by the Rotary Club of Edina on July 23 will be distributed at the 2015 Twin Cities Standdown Tuesday, Aug. 4 and Wednesday, Aug. 5 in Bloomington.

“We are very appreciative of the many donations collected to get veterans back on their feet,” said David Nguyen, MACV Program and Outreach Manager, overseeing program eligibility in the metro area. “The clothes donated by the community through the Rotary collection will give veterans the confidence they need going into job interviews.”

At the 2015 Twin Cities Standdown, veterans will select clothes, change and then meet with potential employers.

Scott MacDonald helps organize some of the items donated during the clothing drive. MacDonald, a veteran himself, helped organize the event to help area veterans and their families through MACV.
