Time has gone fast this year, as we are already three-quarters of the way through the school year! Our inbound students, Justine and Claudio, are busy with studies and activities. In the next few weeks they will each be presenting their Country Talks during a meeting—Justine April 27 and Claudio May 4! Please reach out to Justine and Claudio if you wish to invite them to an event or dinner with your family—Heather, Hansen, Mike Kallas or Terry Stevens can help you get in contact with the students. We need host families for our three inbound students next year as well. Contact Heather if you or someone you know is interested!

Do you want to get to know the students better? If you have a family activity coming up, would you consider inviting them to join you?  They love to see how the diverse families of Edina live and make connections and experience our culture. Heather, Hansen, Mike Kallas or Terry Stevens can help you get in touch with the students.

Our two outbound bounds, Catherine Lee (South Korea) and Elizabeth Anderson (Germany) are thoroughly enjoying themselves. For Elizabeth, it has been travels on ski trips and birthday celebrations. Catherine has enjoyed the culture, the costumes and the people.

This coming year we are hosting three students: a young lady from Nepal, a student from south Korea and a student from Spain. We will need nine host families for these students—three per student is ideal. Hosting an exchange student can be a rewarding and life-long experience! If you are not able to host, you can still help by talking with your neighbors and friends and suggest they look into hosting. We especially need a family with a ninth- or tenth-grader at Edina High School. Heather will be coordinating host families for the Youth Exchange Committee, so please reach out to her for more information.

If you are not able to host, perhaps you would be able to serve as a student counselor! Responsibilities of the counselor is to correspond with their student to make sure the student is transitioning well, and assist that student with issues or questions they may have. We have five openings for this position. Contact Terry for more information about serving as a student counselor next school year.

New to Rotary Youth Exchange this year is a summer exchange program. For many years Rotary has had the school year or long-term program. Now they have added a summer program.
