Periodically we feature a new member of the Rotary Club of Edina on our website. This week we meet:

Name: Steve Buettner

Classification: School District Administration

What was your first job? My first job was selling newspaper subscriptions door to door in Minneapolis and St. Paul. I was a fifth-grader at the time.

Who was your first role model and why? My father was my first role model because he instilled in me a work ethic and a sense of appreciation for the outdoors and nature. That work ethic has carried through my early years as a teacher and later into my employment in the school IT field. My family and I enjoy skiing and my father, brothers and I still go fishing annually in the Boundary Waters.

Why did you want to join Rotary? I am familiar with Rotary from a project I did in the 1990s where we collected and distributed bicycles to Africa through the Burnsville Rotary. The Edina community is so strong because of organizations like Rotary, and that is why I wanted to join formally and to give of my time and service.

What do you like best about being part of the Rotary Club of Edina? What I like best about the Rotary Club of Edina is its sense of purpose, thereby giving back to others and the community it serves.

What one piece of advice do you offer other business leaders? Being humble, I would ask other business leaders how I could be of service to them.

Welcome to the Rotary Club of Edina, Steve!
