Don't miss the chance to attend several upcoming events for Rotarians at the end of July and early August! Registration is open now!

First up is Prospective Member Day at the Thursday, July 28, Rotary Club of Edina meeting. Members are encouraged to bring a friend or colleague that is interested in learning more about our club and Rotary to the meeting. All prospective members eat free on July 28! For more information, contact Membership—Recruitment Director Greg Yoch. We will also honor members that had Perfect Attendance in the 2015–2016 Rotary year at the meeting.

Aug. 3 is the return of the Rotary happy hour! This vocational development group meets the first Wednesday of each month, but took a hiatus in July. The August gathering will feature EMRC member Dr. Casey Moore. The event is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Mezz in Lunds & Byerly's on France Avenue in Edina. There will be a short presentation by the featured Rotarian, plus time for introductions, networking and questions. The happy hour is a collaboration between our club and Edina Morningside Rotary Club. Contact Renee Harberts for more information.

Thursday, Aug. 4, is the first Vocational Day of the new Rotary year. We will meet at Express Metals in Hopkins Aug. 4 at noon for the chance to learn more about this metal recycling business. Express Metals is owned by Todd Bollig, an Eden Prairie Rotarian, and our own Libby Schmit is the general manager at the company. Lunch and beverages will be served, and Senior Active and Honorary members pay at the door like a regular meeting. Please register by Friday, July 29, so we can plan accordingly. Parking is limited, so carpools are encouraged. For questions on the meeting, contact Club Service Director Deirdre Kvale.

Finally, there is still time to register for the St. Paul Saints baseball game and Rotary picnic at CHS field in Lowertown, St. Paul, Sunday, Aug. 14. Cost is $30, and that gets you into the game and pre-game picnic to boot! Seniors and kids get $1 off the price. Picnic time is 3:30 p.m with the game starting at 5:05 p.m. It should be a great afternoon and evening for one and all! Bring your significant other, your kids or your grandkids! Please register yourself and any guests online by Friday, Aug. 5, so that we can plan for the event. If you have questions, please contact Event Chair Don Hutchison.
