Eric Curry to speak at June 14 meeting
The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Eric Curry as program speaker at the Thursday, June 14, meeting. Curry just completed his 18th season as a Division I college basketball official. He will speak about "Called for Traveling: The Life of a College Basketball Official." 
 
Rotarian Jake Johnson will give his Classification Talk at the meeting.

Fishing for Life needs volunteers June 14

Fishing for Life, recipient of a 2017–2018 Edina Rotary Foundation local grant, can still use some boat drivers and fishing guides at 7 a.m. this Thursday, June 14, for a Armed Forces special event on Lake Minnetonka. Veterans, active duty and families are excited to spend a day on the water, but more volunteer helpers are needed. Edina Rotarian Katy Campbell, and her husband Ralph, are helping that day. One more day to register for June 19 picnic
WHAT: Annual Rotary Family Picnic
WHEN: Tuesday, June 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There is no Rotary meeting Thursday, June 21.
WHERE: Edina Country Club, on the veranda, or indoors if weather dicatates
WHO: All Rotarians and family—bring your kids and grandkids! There will be face painting, balloon animals, T-shirt decorating and yard games!
COST: Senior Active and Honorary Rotarians, as well as adult guests, are $20. Children are $12. Children under age 5 are free. Regular active members already paid for the picnic on their Q4 invoice.
INFO: The Edina Country Club will be serving burgers, brats, chicken, corn on the cobb, watermelon, potato salad, green salad, and cookies and bars. There will also be a cash bar. 
REGISTRATION: Online here. Don't delay! The registration deadline is this Thursday, June 14. We need everyone who plans to attend to register for planning purposes.

Walk in the 4th of July Parade for Rotary!
WHAT: Edina Rotary is looking for volunteers to represent our club in the city of Edina's 4th of July parade!
WHERE: Volunteers will assemble with the other parade entrants on Normandale Boulevard behind the Community Center. 
WHEN: 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 4. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and will go for approximately two hours. 
WHO: Rotarians, family and friends
INFO: Not only will our volunteers be distributing Rotary goodwill, but also pencils and suckers to the kids along the road. Two lucky volunteers have the honor of carrying the Rotary banner. We will be accompanied by a posse of superheroes running alongside the presidential vehicle. Contact Club Service Director Marty Kupper or Jennifer Bennerotte with questions.

Join Rotarians for a Lynx game July 24
WHAT: Minnesota Lynx women's basketball game
WHERE: Target Center, 600 N. 1st Ave., Minneapolis
WHEN: 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24
WHO: Rotarians, significant others, family
INFO: Seating will be in the lower level. Cost for the tickets are $18. No pre-party is planned, any food or drink at the game is the responsibility of the ticket holder. There will be a photo taken on the court of all Rotarians and guests in attendance! Make sure you show up your Lynx wear! There is a possibility a Lynx player or two will pose for the photo with us! Contact Social Director Renee Harberts for more information.

The program speaker at the June 7 Rotary Club of Edina meeting was Arlene Vernon. She is a human resource strategist with over 30 years of experience as a consultant and trusted resource for a diverse group of small and medium-sized organizations. In her talk, she explored how the #metoo movement impacts us as organizational leaders and what, if anything, we’re doing about it.
 
Rotarian Dave Phillips gave his Classification Talk at the meeting.
 
Rotary Global Scholar Alexandra Bader shared with us her experience studying in Sweden.
 
Honorary Rotarian Elizabeth Anderson received her first Paul Harris Fellow from The Rotary Foundation Director for our club, David Clynes. Still time to donate to TRF this Rotary year!

The Edina Country Club will serve grilled chicken with orzo and pesto or Mandarin orange shrimp salad at the Thursday, June 14, meeting. 

The Rotary Club of Edina's Administrator, Jennifer Garske, works part time Tuesday through Friday, and attends the Rotary meetings on Thursdays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. to answer questions.
