The Rotary International
Foundation was formally established in 1928 and made its first
grant in 1930 for $500. Today, the Rotary Foundation contributes
$100 million annually to causes that improve the lives of
millions of disadvantaged people in 165 countries.
The Edina Rotary Club has always been very supportive of the
Rotary International Foundation. Our clubs objectives are:
-
Encourage Every Rotarian to
give Every Year to the Rotary Foundation
- Raise the level
of pledges and contributions
- Emphasize the
Annual Fund needs
- Strive for 100
percent participation
- Strive for
annual pledges exceeding $300
per member
- Encourage new
Paul Harris Fellows with a $250 match from the Club
- Educate Club
members about the Foundation, Paul Harris Fellowships, The
Paul Harris Society, Foundation Grants,
and the Bequest Society
Men and women who donate $1,000 are recognized as Paul Harris
Fellows. The Rotary Club of Edina was recently recognized as a
"100 Percent Paul Harris Fellow Club." Several members are
Multiple Paul Harris Fellows or Major Donors.
During the 2006-2007 Rotary year, our club gave more than
$70,000 to the Rotary International Foundation.
