Speaker for Oct. 17, Dist. Polio Chair, Tim Mulcrone
Tim Mulcrone is a three time Club President and 32 year Rotarian from Chanhassen. He has been our District Polio Chair since
2012. Tasked with keeping our Polio Eradication at the forefront, he has delivered speeches of every flavor. Sometimes he has
appeared as a leprechaun searching for his Pot-of-Gold for Polio, or as Dracula talking of a chance meeting with Polio at the
Conference for Especially Evil in Las Vegas. He has coordinated Polio Eradication billboards, City Proclamations and the lighting up
of the 35W Bridge in EndPolioNow colors. Last year our District ranked 7th in the world for PolioPlus giving and a personal best for
our District. So where do we stand now with Polio?

New Local Sales Tax Presentation, Oct. 17

The City of Edina has more than 200 miles of local roads that are used by residents, businesses, customers and guests. Eventually, old roads need to be reconstructed. This work can cost in the range of $600,000 to $1.5 million per mile. Typically, the cost of this work is borne by the property owners along the new road.

The City is considering funding alternatives that lessen the impact on the immediate property owners. One of the options being evaluated is the creation of a new local option sales tax. The additional sales tax would be 0.5%, equating to an additional 50 cents on each $100 purchase of taxable goods.

Gala Raffle Grand Prize Winner - Super Win!
Member Mary Younggren wrote to tell us:

Here’s the pic our mgr. sent out to the team the Friday before the Gala.  😊

Our Jonathan Fondell was absolutely delighted by his big win!  He had, the day before, learned of a major car repair needed in almost exactly that amount!  He was wondering how he could afford the repair, as he is a youngster who needs the bucks!  Each year, I buy the raffle tix with my team’s names, and they all wish each other “good luck” before the Gala!  It was so fun that this guy was the lucky winner after many years.  😊  Thank you for MAKING THE DAY of my team!
