The foundation of the Rotary Club of Edina recently awarded more than $45,000 in grants to local non-profit organizations benefitting the community.

The following grants were awarded:
  • Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter -- $2,636 for laptops or tablets to support volunteer-driven Alzheimer’s education
  • Athletes Committed to Educating Students -- $2,500 for classroom improvements for fourth through eighth-graders
  • Better Futures Minnesota -- $2,500 for a warehouse forklift to train men in appliance recycling, property maintenance and ReUse Retail sales warehouse service line of businesses
  • Can do Canines -- $4,700 for kids to train and place assistance dogs
  • Cornerstone Advocacy Services -- $3,400 for furnishings in therapy spaces
  • Edina Give & Go -- $4,000 to support their Instruments for All program
  • Fraser -- $5,000 for indoor play equipment
  • Gilda’s Club Twin Cities -- $2,500 for furniture and equipment to support their Children, Teen & Family Program
  • Hearts & Hammers Twin Cities -- $5,000 for equipment
  • Hearts & Hands Minnesota -- $1,500 for software
  • Hope Academy -- $1,500 for books for three classrooms
  • Muscular Dystrophy Association of Minnesota and the Dakotas -- $1,100 for water bottles for summer campers
  • Oasis for Youth -- $2,600 for laptops and cell phones to support their school-based outreach program
  • The Sheridan Story -- $3,500 for a lift gate for the food program’s delivery vehicle
  • True Friends -- $2,500 for improvements at Camp Eden Wood
Grants will be presented at upcoming meetings of the Rotary Club of Edina, which typically meets 12:15 p.m. Thursdays at the Edina Country Club, 5100 Wooddale Ave.
