The Rotary Club of Edina and the Edina Morningside Rotary Club are embarking on starting and supporting a Rotaract Club. Rotaract clubs consist of young professionals between the ages of 18 and 30. Meetings will be held there 6 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. Each meeting will feature a speaker and focus on service projects in alignment with Rotary’s mission of “Service Above Self.”

Going forward, meetings will be held at the Mezz at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. Each meeting will feature a speaker and focus on service projects in alignment with Rotary’s mission of “Service Above Self.”

There are 10,904 Rotaract Clubs in the world consisting of 250,792 members in 184 countries.  There is only one Rotaract Club in District 5950.  Plenty of room for growth!

Rotaract brings together adults ages 18 to 30 to take action in their communities, develop their leadership and professional skills, and have fun. The Rotary Clubs of Edina and Edina Morningside are sponsoring the new Rotaract Club of Edina, but Rotaract members will manage its club independently.

As Rotaract members connect with other young leaders, they can take advantage of all Rotary has to offer, including scholarships and peace fellowships, RYLA events, and friendship exchanges or vocational training teams.

There is no charge to attend meetings. Eventually, the Rotaract Club of Edina may charge its members nominal annual dues.

“Rotaract is our future—our AAA team,” said Sam Thompson, an officer of the Rotary Club of Edina and one of the organizers of the new Rotaract club. “We are committed to the current Rotary International President’s goal of expanding Rotaract globally and strengthening the transition from Rotaract into Rotary. Today’s Rotaract members are tomorrow’s Rotarians.”

Members Jake Johnson and Scott Hawkins have agreed to be on our founding Rotaract board.  The first President is Mark Gastner, and the President-Elect is Nash Faulk. We need more board members to complete our slate. Please contact Sam Thompson at sthompson@transitionsib.com if you have friends, family, neighbors or work associates that would be interested in joining our Rotaract Club.
