Members of the Rotary Club of Edina recently completed hands only CPR training led by peers in the Rotary Club of Plymouth.

The Rotary Club of Plymouth offers one-hour Heart Safe training sessions for teenagers and adults who are interested in learning to help save lives. Participants learn hands-only CPR, which teaches chest compressions without mouth-to-mouth breaths, as well as the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). AEDs detect disturbances in the rhythm of a heartbeat and can treat them through defibrillation, allowing the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm.

The Heart Safe training session for Edina Rotarians was held Feb. 7. More than 60 Edina business leaders completed the training. “Helping community members complete lifesaving CPR training is another example of the good work Rotary does to change the world in positive ways,” said Rotary Club of Edina President John Flynn.

To thank the Rotary Club of Plymouth and help that club extend the training opportunity to others, the Rotary Club of Edina’s foundation donated $500 to the cause.
