Founded by Mick Sterling in 2011, The 30-Days Foundation, a Twin-Cities based 501 c3 non-profit, has provided one-time financial grants made payable only to the service provider for Minnesota residents. The foundation has fulfilled nearly 110,000 requests for assistance for matters such as back rent, first month rent, utility bills, medical bills, school clothes, car repairs, sober house assistance, birth certificate renewals, moving fees, storage fees and more. In effect, the everyday financial obligations that if remain unpaid, lead to further debt and potential eviction from homes or apartments, vehicle being repossessed and more. Attend the Rotary Club of Edina’s Prospective Member Day 12:15-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Edina Country Club, 5100 Wooddale Ave., to learn more about the organization and hear from guest speakers Roy Smalley and Jim Souhan. There is no charge for guests at the luncheon.
Smalley is a former professional baseball shortstop who played in Major League Baseball for 13 years for teams including the Minnesota Twins. He is now an analyst for Bally Sports North. President Paul Peterson announced the date, theme and location for this year's Edina Rotary Foundation fundraiser. Please mark Saturday, September 28 as the date to party at "The Purple Gala". The location will be the internationally known Paisley Park in Chanhassen. Rotary Club of Edina event tickets are now on sale. Price is $225. ORDER HERE. One of the state’s largest service organizations will have a significant presence at the 2024 Minnesota State Fair Saturday, Aug. 24.
More than 300 Rotarians from Rotary International District 5950 will be present for the Great Minnesota Get Together on its opening weekend. Working in four shifts throughout the day, Rotarians will complete a service project, a waste audit conducted as a collaboration with the Office of Enterprise Sustainability at the Minnesota Department of Administration, the Minnesota Technical Assistance Program and the Minnesota State Fair Operations staff. Rotarians will help collect data to identify and provide recommendations to reduce trash, increase recycling, improve organics collection, avoid unnecessary waste, and reuse or repurpose waste items.
Rotary will also have a unit in the 2 p.m. parade. The float will feature 75 Rotarians and North Star youth exchange students. Click "Read More" for additional details.
