Veterans Luncheon is tomorrow, Nov. 9

The annual Area 3 Rotary Veterans Luncheon is set for tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 9, at Bearpath Golf and Country Club, 18100 Bearpath Trail, Eden Prairie, MN 55347. Check-in begins at 11 a.m. with live music, with the luncheon beginning at 11:15 and concluding at 1:15 p.m.

The registration deadline for the event has passed. If you did not sign up, contact President-Elect John Flynn.

The featured speaker at the event is Major Gen. Robert Shadley of the U.S. Army. Former Edina Rotarian retired Gen. Denny Schulstad, U.S. Air Force, will emcee the event.

Each Rotarian could invite up to two veterans as guests of our club, and Senior Active and Honorary Rotarians who are veterans may attend free of charge. Cost for guests that are not veterans will be $25. Senior Active or Honorary members who are not veterans will be charged the usual $20.

There is no Rotary Club of Edina meeting on Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Edina Country Club. All members are encouraged to attend the Veterans Luncheon.

2017 Camp E in the books

Camp Enterprise completed it’s 38th year Nov. 2–4, 2017 and from the initial feedback, it was very successful!

Ninety-five students from throughout the southern half of Minnesota and western region of Wisconsin attended this three-day business camp held at the YMCA’s Camp Ihduhapi in Loretto, Minnesota. Over 80 volunteers from various Rotary clubs throughout the state worked together to coordinate Camp Enterprise, led by the Rotary Club of Edina and Edina Morningside Rotary Club.

Thanksgiving Baskets Assembly is Nov. 22

The annual Thanksgiving Baskets Assembly will be the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Nov. 22, at the Edina Country Club. Our club will partner with Edina Morningside Rotary Club again this year to assemble and deliver baskets to those in need. We will gather at 11:45 a.m. for lunch, and then will begin assembling the Thanksgiving baskets for area families in need after that. Volunteers are needed for the basket assembly, as well as deliveries after the event.

Bring friends and family to join in lunch, assembly of baskets and delivery. Please register here if you plan to attend, and make sure to register all guests. Cost for lunch is $20 for Senior Active, Honorary and adult guests. Children cost $12.

Contact Michael Stanzak or Mary Hustad with info about who you would like to be paired up with for deliveries or for more information about the event. Baskets are delivered to families in Edina, and north and south Minneapolis.

Peterson Family Christmas at Dakota Dec. 17

WHAT: The Peterson Family: Twas the Jam Before Christmas, Minnesota's First Family of Music, featuring our own Paul Peterson, will perform
WHEN: 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17
WHERE: Dakota Jazz Club & Restaurant, Minneapolis

WHO: Any Rotarian and guests
TICKETS: There is a "Rotary block" of tickets on the main floor available on a first-come, first-served basis. Seating is at tables of four, so if you want to sit with someone specific, you should consider buying all four tickets at a table. Tickets are $25 each. If the Rotary block tickets are sold, you are welcome to buy tickets elsewhere in the venue as they are available. To procure your tickets, you must contact The Dakota directly. Dinner and drinks are available for off the menu purchase at an additional cost.

Treasurer Josh Sprague led the Rotary meeting Nov. 2, as President San Asato was busy mentoring at Camp Enterprise. The speaker was Dan Pollack, deputy director of the Minnesota Department of Health.

Rotarian Scott Hawkins gave his classification talk at the meeting. And longtime Rotarian Bill Clynes celebrated his 90th birthday with a surprise cake, cupcakes and sing-along planned by his son, David Clynes.
