The next Rotary Vocational Development Group will be tonight, Wednesday, Aug. 1.
 

Once a month, Edina Rotarians have a chance to connect with other club members, and any guests, at the happy hour. This Rotary event is held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Mezz at the Lunds & Byerly's in Edina. The meeting will feature a brief presentation from a featured Rotarian, plus time for introductions, networking and questions. This month's featured presenter is Jennifer Hendrickson, an Edina Rotarian and Community Development Manger at The Parkinson's Foundation. The Rotary Club of Edina and EMRC collaborate on this event.

WHAT: Hand out Deterra packets at Night to Unite block parties in Edina

WHEN: Tuesday, Aug. 7, starting at 6 p.m.
WHERE: locations to be determined closer to event
WHO: Any Rotarian and family or friends
INFO: We need volunteers to hand out the packets (which are a safe way to render drugs inactive, allowing people to easily dispose of drugs) with the help of the Edina Crime Prevention Fund. We'd love to deliver packets to block parties Rotarians might be hosting! Please send us info on any of your block parties!

WHAT: Rotary Race Day at Canterbury Park will raise money for PolioPlus!

WHEN: Friday, Aug. 10, doors open at 5:30 p.m., live horse racing begins at 6:30

WHO: All Rotarians, family and friends

INFO: $10 ticket gets you admission into the park, a hot dog and soda. Organized by Rotary District 5950, 100 percent of ticket sales will benefit PolioPlus!

The Rotary Club of Edina and the Edina Morningside Rotary Club are embarking on starting and supporting a Rotaract Club. Rotaract clubs consist of young professionals between the ages of 18 and 30. Starting a Rotaract Club is one of five of our clubs visioning goals. It also is Rotary International President Barry Rassin’s goal this year is to expand Rotaract globally and strengthen the transition from Rotaract into Rotary.

The program speaker at the July 26 Rotary Club of Edina meeting was Don Smithmier, CEO of GoKart Labs and The Big Know. He spoke about "We Are All Digital Start-ups Now."
