Stories
Mar 9 Speaker: Karen Laughlin, "Growing Up C.O.D.A."

Karen Laughlin is the wife of Edina Morningside Past President 2014-2015, Rob Laughlin. I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin with parents who were DEAF. My siblings and I are CODA’s (Children of DEAF Adults) and our grandchildren are also CODA’s.

I’ve been a teacher for 35 years and for the last 20 years have taught ASL (American Sign Language) to hearing preschool children. It is an extracurricular activity for them at their childcare center and a fun rewarding job for me.

We are parents of three wonderful children Connor, Meghan and Danny and grandparents to three amazing grandchildren, Slade, Oaklyn and Jett. My hobbies are first and foremost pickleball, followed by bike riding, golf.  I love to walk, read, ski, fish, kayak, play games with my girlfriends, hangout with my husband, children, and grandchildren at the lake.
