WHAT: Rotary Club of Edina Holiday Party WHEN: 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20 WHERE: Edina Country Club WHO: All Rotarians and significant others (no other guests, please) COST: $20 for Senior Active and Honorary Rotarians, as well as guests. Please pay at the door. All regular Rotary members have already paid for the Holiday Party on their quarterly invoice REGISTRATION: Is closed. Please contact Marty or Steve if you have questions. There is NO regular Rotary Club of Edina meetings Thursday, Dec. 21 or 28. The Holiday Party counts as the regular meeting for the week, so if you are shooting for perfect attendance this Rotary year, you will need a make up if you do not attend.
Tomorrow is the last day to donate to the annual Rotary Club of Edina Holiday Giving Program! Our club is once again collecting holiday gifts for families in need in our community. Rotarian Jean Morrison is spearheading the program, and asks that members bring UNWRAPPED gifts and gift cards for children of any age (infant all the way through teens) as well as gifts for moms, dads, and families, to the Edina Country Club in December. This year, gift cards were also requested for teen gifts. The donations can be dropped off at the Holiday Party on Wednesday, Dec. 20. Cash or check donations are also welcome. Jean will take the funds donated and buy gift cards or other gifts to be donated as well.
This year, the organizations benefiting from the Edina Rotary Holiday Giving Program will be Cornerstone and 66 West.

Once again this year, members of the Rotary Club of Edina will ring the Salvation Army bell at Jerry's Foods in Edina! Organized by Dan Hallberg, with the help of Wayne Harmon, teams of Rotarians will ring the bell for five days this December. Don't miss a chance to put some change in the bucket on these dates:

The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome own own Thom Winninger as the program speaker at the Thursday, Jan. 4 meeting. This is the first meeting of 2018. Winninger, a longtime Edina Rotarian, will speak about "Your True DNA—Finding Your Call in Your Work."
There are no Rotary meetings on Thursday, Dec. 21 or Dec. 28. The next regular meeting is Jan. 4.

You are invited to participate in our four-session Leadership Training taking place February–May, 2018. At the Dec. 14 meeting, President-Elect John Flynn introduced this exciting concept designed to improve your personal awareness and your leadership skills.
The training is in response to year-end surveys that indicated leadership development was one of the primary reasons people initially join Rotary. With the help of Royce Pavelka we have identified Jeff Meacham, who is part of Giant Worldwide, and a City of Lakes Rotarian, to provide the training content and facilitation. GiANT is a fairly new name in the leadership training arena but the GiANT mission, content, style and language all seem like a very good fit for Rotary.
The training encompasses four sessions and we ask that you commit to attending all four before you register. (Please look at your calendar.) If you would like to attend, but cannot make it to all the session, please contact John Flynn. You may be put on a waiting list in case we have spots open up.

All sessions are from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Think Mutual Bank, 3655 Hazelton Road, Edina.

The Rotary Club of Edina is supporting a water and sanitation project in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
As part of the project, communities in the area would be provided with 23 deep wells, three small-town water systems, 300 new microflush toilets with hand-washing sinks for homes and one toilet block for a school in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
I'm very thankful to the Edina Rotary Club for giving me the opportunity to learn more about business and to grow personally and professionally [at Camp Enterprise].
This experience helped me recognize the importance of fighting for our dreams.

It was a busy last meeting of 2017 on Dec. 14. The atmosphere was festive as Ms. Claus, Jean Morrison, and her elf helper, Tom Pirsch, rang their bells to promote the Rotary Holiday Giving Program. Our program speaker was Rotary District 5950 Governor Bob Halagan. Past President Ann Platt announced the incoming board directors for the 2018–2019 and future club president. A vote was taken by membership for approval of the new directors.
Longtime Rotarian Don Erickson was honored as a Major Donor, Level 2 to The Rotary Foundation by Past President Jeff Ohe and David Clynes, this year's TRF Director for our club.
