Frank Bures is the author of The Geography of Madness, which Newsweek called one of the best travel books of the decade, editor of Under Purple Skies: The Minneapolis Anthology. He has written more than 200 articles for Rotary Magazine, including more than a decade of "Culture" columns, which are collected in The Shape of the World: Essays on Travel, Culture and Belief from Rotary Magazine.
His work has appeared in Harper's, the Washington Post Magazine, Outside, Bicycling and other places. His stories have also been included in the Best American Travel Writing twice, and selected as "Notable" stories for the Best American Sports Writing, Essays and Travel Writing seventeen times.
He speaks Swahili, Italian and a few other languages less well and lives in Minneapolis with his wife and two daughters.

The Rotary Club of Edina and the 50th & France Business & Professional Association will host the fifth-annual Edina Car Show noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, in downtown Edina.
The Edina Car Show will be held rain or shine in the 50th & France District. The family-friendly event will feature some of the best collector cars in Minnesota, including classic, vintage and exotic. Key Cadillac and Morrie’s Luxury Auto, the dealer sponsors of the event, will also have new models on display.
The event is free for spectators. Car owners can participate for $10 with advanced registration or $20 at the gate. Prizes will be awarded for the Top Five cars, as well as Best in Show (People’s Choice) and Best in Show (Owners’ Choice). Those interested in displaying their classic, vintage or exotic car or motorcycle, should visit EdinaCarShow.com for more information and to register. Car show parking and setup will take place 10 a.m. to noon the day of the event.
