With 25 years of experience working with children, teens, and families in youth outreach, domestic and foreign missions and as a 12-year police and undercover officer, Jessica Bartholomew, brings firsthand information and experience to the issues of child and teen sexual exploitation, abuse, and sex trafficking.
 
Her mission is to take everything she knows about what leaves children and teens vulnerable to exploitation, the cultural and spiritual dynamics that fuel a dark market for child abuse and trafficking, and use it to educate and equip communities in prevention.
 
The Rotary Club of Edina was introduced to Jessica and her commitment to the protection of our youth when she participated as a panel expert in our sponsored Human Trafficking workshops. To learn more about A.C.T. United click HERE.

MEETING LOCATION - The District Edina!! Next Vocation/Avocation Happy Hour is Wednesday, April 5, 2023.  5:30 to 7:00 p.m. meet and greet. Our speaker and host will be Ted Goltzman, Commonwealth Development Corporation Vice President of Development. He works with local and state agencies, community partners and private lenders and investors to develop affordable housing facilitating all aspects of the development process from site selection, financial structuring, construction, and project lease-up. Rotary Club of Edina Seeks Nominees for Women In Leadership Award
 
The Rotary Club of Edina seeks nominees for the 16th-annual“Chrysanne Manoles Women In Leadership Award.”
 
Nominees cannot be current Rotarians and must live, work or volunteer in Edina. Female nominees must demonstrate Rotary’s “Four Way Test” of the things we think, say or do: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
 
To nominate a woman for the prestigious award, submit a one- or two-page letter explaining how the person demonstrates the Four Way Test and what she does in the community outside of any professional position she holds. Letters should be sent to jbennerotte@EdinaRotary.org or Rotary Club of Edina, 4801W. 50th St., Edina, MN 55424. Letters must be postmarked by Saturday, April 15.

Rotary Provides Funding to ACES
The foundation of the Rotary Club of Edina recently awarded a grant of $4,000 to Athletes Committed to Educating Students (ACES).
 
In partnership with Minnesota’s professional and collegiate sports teams, ACES specifically serves middle schoolers and focuses on the development of math and social-emotional skills. ACES programming is offered in nine schools in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Northfield.

Edina Rotarian, Global Scholars Educator Receives AFS-USA Global Educator of the Year Award
An Edina Rotarian who leads the Edina Rotary Global Scholars program at Edina High School was named the 2023 AFS-USA Global Educator of the Year.
 
AFS-USA, the largest partner in a worldwide network of non-profit, volunteer-based international education organizations, recently announced Lindsey Smaka, a science and teacher and a global studies leader at Edina High School, earned the award.

ERMC End Polio Now Plant Sale

Edina Morningside Rotary Club Online Gertens Fundraiser! This group will receive 30% of all plant sales and 15% of all plant card sales. Proceeds will go toward Rotary International-End Polio Now.

NO LATE ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Your order will be ready for pick up on May 10 from 5:30-7:00 PM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church (5421 France Ave S, Edina, MN 55410).

Spring Service Projects
The Rotary Club of Edina is looking forward to this spring when the following service projects will give our members the opportunity to serve the local community. Saturday, April 15 is a rescheduled event in partnership with MN Involve and their work with the unsheltered Minneapolis population. Grant Snyder and his team are grateful for our help with the assembly of relief kits and the preparation and serving of lunch in Loring Park. Saturday, June 3 will be spent in service to JCS Affective Sober Living who operate two sober homes providing women a safe and healthy transition while in recovery from addition. 
FREE Shred Event, June 10
On Saturday, June 10, 2023, 9 am to Noon, fellow Rotarian John Mazzara is sponsoring a  FREE Shed Event in the parking lot of Re/Max at 7700 France Ave S.  Bring your paper documents only for disposal. Please feel free to invite a friend, a large truck has been ordered. Go to the South side of the Building and look for the inflatable Re/Max Balloon and ShredIt truck.
