The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Dr. David Odde as the program speaker at the Thursday, May 4, meeting. Odde works on cancer research in the Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Minnesota. 

 

 

Rotary Club of Edina member Sandra Schley was awarded the Service Above Self Award at the Rotary District 5950 Conference Friday, April 28! Here she is accepting the award from District 5950 Governor Mark Hegstrom at the conference. This award from Rotary International is only given to 150 Rotarians worldwide each year.

The next Rotary Vocational Development Group will be Wednesday, May 3. The speaker at the meeting will be Dr. Hannelore Brucker, who has a special "surprise" presentation. 

 

Once a month, Edina Rotarians have a chance to connect with other club members, and any guests, at the happy hour. This Rotary event is held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Mezz at the Lunds & Byerly's in Edina. The meeting will feature a brief presentation from a featured Rotarian, plus time for introductions, networking and questions. The Rotary Club of Edina and EMRC collaborate on this event.

 

 

Edina Rotarians are encouraged to attend the community meeting for the Edina Comprehensive Plan kick-off at 7 p.m. next Monday, May 8, at Braemar Golf Course, 6364 John Harris Drive, Edina. Go here for more information. 

The Rotary Club of Edina will hold a Vocational Day meeting Thursday, May 18, at Grandview Tire & Auto–Cahill, 5415 70th St. W., Edina. Check in at the meeting will begin at 11:45 a.m., and the meeting will end promptly at 1:30 p.m. Lunch and beverages will be provided. 

 

Our club holds vocational meetings annually to highlight a vocation and/or business in our community. Grandview Tire & Auto is owned by Rotarian Tim Murphy.

 

The Rotary Club of Edina seeks nominees for the eighth-annual “Chrysanne Manoles Women In Leadership Award.” To nominate a woman for the prestigious award, submit a one- or two-page letter explaining how the person demonstrates the Four Way Test and what she does in the community. Letters should be sent to Rotary Club of Edina, 4801 W. 50th St., Edina, MN  55424 and must be postmarked by Monday, May 15.

 

The 2017 Chrysanne Manoles Women In Leadership Award will be presented at the May 25 meeting of the Rotary Club of Edina.

I would like to thank the Edina Rotary Club and my fellow Rotarians for the cards, memorials and many kinds words following my mother's passing. The support and compassion shown to me was truly appreciated. The memorials are being donated to The Rotary Foundation in honor of my mother.

 

 

 

It was a beautiful spring day for April, and I happen to check into the meeting just as Joel Jennings was arriving and checking in. What a delight to have Joel back in our presence and enjoy his warm and positive energy. Welcome back Joel! We look forward to seeing you again very soon. Youth Exchange student Justine Onana gave her country talk, telling us all about Belgium. And the final results of the The Rotary Foundation Bowl were announced!
