The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Craig Warren as program speaker at the Thursday, March 2, meeting. Warren is the chief operating officer for Twin Cities United Way. He will speak about "We Are Humankind. Twin Cities United Way and Our Community."
Rotarian André Brewer will give his classification talk at the meeting.
The annual join meeting with the Edina Morningside Rotary Club will be at 7:30 a..m. Tuesday, March 7, at the Edina Country Club. The program speaker will be Dr. Michael Osterholm, who will speak on "Public Health and Infectious Disease."
There will be no Rotary Club of Edina meeting on Thursday, March 9.
The next Rotary Vocational Development Group will be tomorrow, Wednesday, March 1. The speaker at the meeting will be Rotary Club of Edina President Ann Platt.
Once a month, Edina Rotarians have a chance to connect with other club members, EMRC members, and any guests, at the happy hour. This Rotary event is held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Mezz at the Lunds & Byerly's on France in Edina. The meeting will feature a brief presentation from Ann, plus time for introductions, networking and questions.
The annual spring Rotary Club of Edina volunteer effort at Feed My Starving Children is set for Saturday, May 6. Rotarians, family and friends are welcome to register to pack meals for children in need around the world. We will meet at the Feed My Starving Children in Chanhassen from 9 to 11 a.m.

Rotarian Rick Carlson sent in a photo of Rotarians packing backpacks of food for kids to take home for the weekend at VEAP Feb. 23. Several area Rotary clubs participate in the Community Service project each school year, and Kenny Smith (center) coordinates the VEAP volunteers for our club this year. Thanks to all the volunteers who have helped out with the VEAP food project this Rotary year!
Rotary’s Council on Legislation met last year, resulting in a new standard club constitution, Rotary clubs’ guiding document. The new constitution covers excused absences for senior members. As a result, our club’s bylaws must be amended to conform. At its January meeting, the Club’s Board of Directors recommended a change to Article 13 for “Member Types:”

Edina Rotarians arrived for our regular meeting Feb. 23 to find the dining room decorated with helium balloons, and a plate of fancy cupcakes on each table. Turns out it was Rotary International’s 112th birthday. So, Happy Birthday to RI, and to us, and thanks President Ann Platt for adding color to our meeting!
