Tomorrow we will celebrate the Rotary Club of Edina's 60th anniversary! At the meeting celebrating 60 years of Service Above Self (1957–2017) Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Edina Country Club, our Charter Members and Past Presidents will be recognized and Edina Historical Society Executive Director Jennifer Adam will give a presentation on the Club's history. 

 

The next Rotary Vocational Development Group will be Wednesday, Nov. 1. There is no happy hour tonight.

 

Most months Edina Rotarians have a chance to connect with other club members, and any guests, at the happy hour. This Rotary event is held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Mezz at the Lunds & Byerly's in Edina. The meeting will feature a brief presentation from a featured Rotarian, plus time for introductions, networking and questions. The speaker for the Wednesday, Nov. 1, gathering will be John Paster from Edina Morningside Rotary Club. The Rotary Club of Edina and EMRC collaborate on this event.

 

There is no Rotary Happy Hour in October.

WHO: All Rotarians and any guests are welcome

INFO: Edina Morningside and South Metro Minneapolis Evenings Rotary clubs are holding their fifth annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser! This charity beer tasting event raises funds for the EMRC and SMME Rotary foundations and will go toward worthwhile projects around the globe and in our backyard.

COST: $40 in advance online/$45 at the door. Fee includes local craft beer sampling, appetizers and a souvenir Rotary tasting glass.

WHAT: Feed My Starving Children event

WHEN: 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28

WHERE: 18732 Lake Drive East, Chanhassen

WHO: Any Rotarian and family and friends. Children must be 5 or older.

INFO: It is time for our fall visit to Feed My Starving Children to pack meals for those around the world in need! We will pack enough food to feed over 60 people for a year in just two hours. Contact Mike Sitek with questions.

The Quarter 2 invoices, which include dues and meals for October–December 2017, were sent out this week. If you would like to sign up for ACH/automatic payments for your quarterly invoices, please send in the ACH/automatic payment form as soon as possible. This payment option is a free and convenient way to have your quarterly invoices paid automatically. To sign up, just fill out the ACH/automatic payment form (emailed out to each member last week, and available at the front desk at meetings) with checking or savings account information (a voided check can be attached, but is not required) and return to Josh Sprague or Club Administrator Jennifer Garske. 

 

For those already signed up for ACH, you should have still received  your invoice via email this week. Note that you do not have to pay! It is just for you to review the charges for this quarter. The payment will be automatically processed next week, around Oct. 10. The invoices are sent so members know the amount that will be paid to the Rotary Club of Edina for the quarter, but do not require action unless you have questions.

What a bright and cheery day to join our Rotary friends and hear about the meaningful work Rotary is involved with as we continue our work to help eradicate polio from the world. Our own Tom McNellis shared his passion and heart-felt story with the help of Jon Barnett and Rotary District 5950 Polio Chair Tim Mulcrone. There is still work to be done and your support is greatly appreciated.
