The final meeting of the Rotary year will be this Thursday, June 29. This is the transition meeting, where the presidency of the Rotary Club of Edina will transfer from Ann Platt to San Asato. Outgoing club and foundation board members will be honored for their service, and incoming board members will be welcomed. Don't miss the chance to congratulate Ann on a successful Rotary year, and wish San luck in the year ahead.

 

There is no Rotary Club of Edina meeting Thursday, July 6, due to the Fourth of July holiday. The first meeting of the new Rotary year will be July 13.

Edina Rotary is looking for eight to ten volunteers to represent our club in the city of Edina's 4th of July parade! Volunteers will assemble with the other parade entrants around 9:30 a.m. July 4 on Normandale Boulevard behind the Community Center. The parade will go for approximately two hours. Not only will our volunteers be distributing Rotary goodwill, but also pencils and suckers to the kids along the road. Two lucky volunteers have the honor of carrying the Rotary banner as Dave Hatzung drives his convertible featuring our incoming president San Asato. We will be accompanied by a posse of superheroes running alongside the presidential vehicle, much like the secret service!

As we gear up for the 2017 Fundraiser & Gala, one of the Silent Auction bidders from the 2016 Fundraiser enjoyed their winnings this month!

 

Rotarians Sam Thompson and Dan Mott hosted Heather and Carl Hansen, the Silent Auction winners, and their group at the Bridgewater Lofts in downtown Minneapolis for a wonderful evening of food and fun. Abby Randall of The Tomato Vine, standing next to Sam in the photo, was the chef for the evening. 

 

 

The penultimate meeting of the 2016–2017 Rotary year featured program speaker Richard Pitino, head coach of the University of Minnesota Gophers Men's Basketball Team. A very popular speaker by the amount of guests and Rotarians that showed up for the meeting! 

 

Rotarian Nash Faulk gave his classification talk at the meeting. And the recipient of the 2016–2017 Signature Project, 66 West Apartments, attended the meeting to receive a check and tell us about the latest progress. A grand opening will be held in August, and hopefully many Rotarians will attend to celebrate our involvement in this important project.
