April 12: Joint Meeting with EMRC
JOINT MEETING WITH EDINA MORNINSIDE ROTARY CLUB - BREAKFAST BUFFET STARTS 7:10 AM, MEETING STARTS 7:30 AM
NO NOON MEETING THURSDAY, APRIL 14

SPEAKER: Detective Carter Staaf, Eden Prairie Police Department  Special Investigations Unit

Carter Staaf is a Detective with the Eden Prairie Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit.  He has over 25 years of police experience that include Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Use of Force Instructor, SWAT Team Leader, Patrol Sergeant and originating member of the Special Investigations Unit.   Carter currently works with detectives, prosecutors and advocates around the metropolitan area in the fight against sex trafficking.

In 2016 Carter and his detective colleagues from southwest Hennepin County formed the 494 Human Trafficking Task Force.  This team utilizes its investigative strength to attack sex trafficking through victim recovery, law enforcement and education.

Through his work Carter has seen firsthand how signs and indicators of sex trafficking often go unnoticed because our “lenses” are not focused correctly.  Carter hopes to bring into focus ways that predators use false promises, deceit, and subterfuge as a means to force unwitting persons into a life of sexual exploitation.
