Tommy Ryman grew up with a new-age, folk singing mother and a traditional, Lutheran insurance-agent father. This XY equation evidently equals: acclaimed comedian. Ryman has earned the title of Semifinalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, where judges raved about Tommy saying, “they had never seen anything like him, one of a kind, fantastic!”
Ryman’s act can be described as absurdist and clever, masked behind a very likable and innocent demeanor, often thought of as disturbingly adorable. He is a favorite among audiences at top clubs, colleges, and corporate events around the nation, and he is regularly featured on SiriusXM, and iheartradio.

The Tommy & Jimmy Show! Member Tom Ryman with nephew and speaker, Tommy Ryman
At last week's meeting, we welcomed professional comedian Tommy Ryman. Tommy fielded questions from his uncle and Rotary member Jim Ryman. He shared his journey to becoming a comedian, including his time on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and how based on his knowledge of Minnesota sports teams performance when he made it to the Semifinals he assumed it was as far as he could go and had won (cue laughter!). Additionally he shared how he develops his jokes and how some humor arrives easil through daily life, like his dad's famous' kale chips that he found far from delicious and other jokes require time, testing and craftsmanship. It was a inspiring and delighful conversation, and we hope to see Tommy & Jimmy touring soon!
We currently need greeters for upcoming meetings! Be the first smiling face seen by Rotarians and guests new to our club! New members and senior active members are encouraged to sign up for these positons. We appreciate your willingness to volunteer you time and welcome people to the weekly meetings. SIGN UP HERE
The Rotary Club of Edina has donated more than $2,500 to Way to Grow through its speaker honorarium program, supporting the nonprofit's work helping Twin Cities children and families build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Rather than providing gifts to guest speakers, the Rotary Club of Edina makes a charitable donation in each speaker's honor. Each year, the club president selects the nonprofit organization that will receive the contributions. Way to Grow was chosen by outgoing Rotary Club of Edina President Lisa Walker as the beneficiary for the 2025-2026 Rotary year, which concluded June 30.
It's never too early to choose your 2026-2027 service committee or audit those committees you may be interested in joining. Print and review the 2026-2027 Committee list HERE.
