Feb 29 Speaker: Eric Guthrie MN State Sr. Demographer
Eric Guthrie is a Senior Demographer in the Minnesota State Demographic Center. Eric came to the Demographic Center in May of 2021 following time in other states where he managed the South Dakota Rural Life and Census Data Center and served as the State Demographer for the State of Michigan. Throughout his career, Eric has always found the greatest fulfillment in using demographic knowledge and techniques to help others better understand the world in which we live and work. This has led to countless presentations ranging from local township meetings all the way up to legislative testimony. For more information on the state demographic center click HERE.
 
Eric earned a PhD in sociology with an emphasis in demography and deviance from South Dakota State University. His work at SDSU focused on rural demography and extending the utility of public use data. Eric also has a Master’s degree in teaching from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

ATTENTION - RETURN TO ECC on March 7
RETURN TO EDINA COUNTRY CLUB. On March 7 we will return to the Edina Country Club for our meetings. Our meeting time (doors opening at 12:15 p.m./program start 12:35 p.m.) and quarterly dues and meeting fees will remain the same. Lunch service will return to the choice of a salad or hot meal with a vegetarian plate available on request. Please contact Mike Martiny with any questions or concerns.

MN Capitol Rotary Awareness Day - Great Event!
On Monday, February 19, more than 130 Rotarians, Rotaract and Interact Club members convened in St. Paul at the Capitol from all corners of the state for the 2024 Rotary Awareness Day. Rotary has a bill, and spoke in favor of, a specialty license plate that would fund our service projects. Participants from Edina Rotary included: Co-Chair Katy Campbell, Rep. Heather Edelson, Sandra Krebsbach, Eli Groenendyk, Catherine Gump. The group met and heard from legislators, and attended a live Senate session where a memorable portion was all stood for a minute of silence after an honoring of the 2 officers and firefighter-paramedic who were killed in Burnsville last Saturday during a domestic violence tragedy. 2029 Rotary Int'l Convention-Minneapolis
Minneapolis has been selected host city for the 2029 Rotary International Convention. We congratulate our Rotary District 5950 bid team led by Past District Governor Tom Gump (Edina-Morningside Rotary), and assisted by Rotary Club of Edina Past President Sam Thompson and Jamie Verbrugge, Past President of Bloomington Rotary, for their hard work and persistence in being awarded the convention in partnership with Meet Minneapolis and the City of Minneapolis. We thank our neighboring Rotary district in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and the Dakotas for their support in making this possible.
