Rotary is an organization that doesn’t sit idly and let others do the work. Instead, we come together as leaders in our community, roll up our sleeves, and make a determined effort to change the world. The Rotary Club of Edina has long legacy of generous giving to both The Rotary Foundation and to the Edina Rotary Foundation.
Many Rotary clubs and other non-profit organizations have endowment funds that allow individuals the opportunity to support that organization beyond their own lifetimes. Two years ago, we launched the Edina Rotary Foundation Legacy Fund and it is my honor to recognize the Rotarians from our club who made the important decision to become Charter Members of the Legacy Fund.
There were two opportunities to give to the Legacy Fund and become charter members: outright gifts and through estate gifts. The following Rotarians names will live on in our club’s history book.
Bequest or estate gifts Level 1 which is for estate gifts of $25,000 San Asato, Matt Boockmeier, Brad Hepp, Jean Morrison, Mike Norman, Sandy Schley and Steve Slyce
Level 2 estate gifts of $50,000 Mark Hegman and Tim Murphy
Level 3 estate gifts of $100,000: Jeff Ohe
Outright gifts Level 1 $10,000: San Asato, Dan Hallberg, Mark Hegman, Bob Stehlik
Level 2 $25,000: Tom Bach, Tim Murphy and Jeff Ohe
Level 4 $100,000: Joel Jennings and Paul Mooty
All told, these Rotarians represent $700,000 in commitments to the Edina Rotary Legacy Fund.

At the last Rotary Club of Edina meeting July 27 we awarded certificates for perfect attendance for the 2016–2017 Rotary year. We had 56 members who had perfect attendance. No, they did not attend every meeting, but did make ups at other Rotary clubs, participated in District 5950 meetings or trainings, participated in committee meetings, attended Rotary social events and/or volunteered for service projects.
Congratulations to the award recipients and thank you for your commitment to Rotary.

The next Rotary Vocational Development Group will be this Wednesday, Aug. 2.
Once a month, Edina Rotarians have a chance to connect with other club members, and any guests, at the happy hour. This Rotary event is held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Mezz at the Lunds & Byerly's in Edina. The meeting will feature a brief presentation from a featured Rotarian, plus time for introductions, networking and questions. The speakers for the Wednesday, Aug. 2, gathering will be Nash Faulk and Scott Hawkins. The Rotary Club of Edina and EMRC collaborate on this event.
WHERE: 66 West Apartments, 3330 66th St. W., Edina
WHO: All Edina Rotarians are invited. The community room at 66 West was our Club's Signature Project for the 2016–2017 Rotary year. There will be a chance to tour the facility, and a short outdoor program will begin at 5:30 p.m. This event will take place rain or shine. Please dress for the weather.

Photographer Polly Norman will take portraits of Rotarians before the club's meeting next week, Aug. 10. Photos will be used in the Club Directory and in President San Asato's weekly meeting presentation. Please arrive between 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., prepared to have your photo taken.
If you would prefer to submit a photo, please send it to Past President Jennifer Bennerotte as soon as possible. Photos should be in color, high-resolution and taken in the past three years. Professional portraits are preferred.
The Rotary Club of Edina will host Neel Kashkari, president of the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis, as program speaker at the Thursday, Aug. 17, meeting. Our club has invited all Area 3 and 5 Rotary clubs to attend this meeting, as well as the Minneapolis #9 Rotary Club. For planning purposes, Edina Rotarians are asked to please register here if they plan to attend and also to register any guests they will bring. We expect more than 250 Rotarians and guests to attend this meeting, so we need all those who plan to be there Aug. 17 to register online. The deadline for registering is noon Friday, Aug. 11.
