Alexis Bailly Vineyard, Minnesota’s oldest winery, lies in the lush Upper Mississippi River Valley. Founded in 1973, this small family-owned vineyard and winery near Hastings has won national acclaim for its table wines, thus earning Minnesota unlikely fame in in the wine drinking world.
Nan has been the winemaker at Alexis Bailly Vineyard for 35 years, starting with her apprenticeship in the Loire Valley in France where she first learned her craft. Her winemaking experiences have been honed by stints in the Cotes du Rhone of southern France and in the Finger Lakes of upstate New York, all leading back to Minnesota where she carries on the romantic notion of making wines in the world’s most difficult wine making region.
To the members of the Rotary Club of Edina and the Edina Morningside Rotary Club:
Thank you so much to all of you who provide such wonderful support for our annual shared Thanksgiving Basket Assembly and Delivery Day. Once again, 85 families enjoyed a traditional American Thanksgiving meal, families that otherwise may have had no such opportunity. Many of you are right there at the Edina Country Club working on the day before Thanksgiving, packing baskets for delivery, restocking our assembly tables, bringing in bread, oranges, knit items for kids, blankets, towels. It really is a wonderful sight to see. And many of you donated canned goods to fill those baskets. And I know that all of you support this service effort through the support of your club.
So, once again, thank you to all of you who make this day of service a reality to so many families in need. I know that those of you who deliver meals throughout the Twin Cities are often greeted with wide smiles and many words of thanks. You brighten peoples’ holidays with your generous gifts. Well done!
