This Week Fireside Chats Begin

It is time to plan the Rotary Club of Edina Fall Fireside Chats. The Social Committee is looking for two additional hosts for these casual get-togethers. We are looking to schedule the two additional hosts 2022 Fall dates between now and mid-November. The schedule so far is:

  • Tuesday, October 25th: Jennifer Hendrickson REGISTER
  • Friday, October 28th: Paul Mooty REGISTER
  • Friday, November 4th: Julie Westbrock REGISTER

Held each spring and fall, the Fireside Chats are very informal social exchanges for members to enjoy and learn about Rotary and to get to know one another usually in a members home. The hosts are asked only to encourage discussion and a good time for all. It is a chance to meet our new members or reconnect with old friends!

Members are encouraged to come to all the Fireside Chats, or pick the one that best works with their schedule.

New members—you are especially encouraged to attend one or all of the Fireside Chats! It is a great way to get to know your fellow Rotarians and introduce yourself to a small group in a casual atmosphere. Let us know if you have questions.

Volunteers are needed to host additional chats between now and mid-November. For more information, contact Kayla Beehler.

Oct 27, HalloBoo Event Booth
Hard to believe it’s “that” time of year again. A little chill in the air and school turns our thoughts to fall, and suddenly costumes are back on racks at Target and CostCo. Halloween!

Last year was our 2nd time participating in this City of Edina Parks Department HalloBoo event which moved from a park to indoors due to storms. All of us truly had a ball handing out candy and interacting “character to character” with 500 kids and their parents.

Any Rotarian and their family members can volunteer with us — copied here are known special events groupies I think would dig joining us! (Feel free to forward this).

Edina Rotary Foundation Oct. 31 Application Deadline
The Edina Rotary Foundation is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations in Edina and its contiguous communities for grants to be used for capital purchases. Applications are due Oct. 31.

Each year, the Rotary Club of Edina raises money at a fall fundraiser to support its projects and award grants. Each year, about $100,000 is raised for the Club’s service projects and local and international grants.

The Foundation’s Community Service – Local Funding Committee favors grant requests for projects that are tangible and self-perpetuating, will be completed in Edina or a bordering community, create partnerships with other organizations, provide benefits to many and can be leveraged over time.

After a grant application is submitted, it is assigned to a member of the committee for review. The committee makes recommendations to the Foundation’s Board of Directors, which makes the final decision on all awards. Award are expected to be made early next year.

Grant applications are available online at www.EdinaRotary.org or by contacting Director Ryan Wilson, ryan.wilson@tradition.bank or 952-806-6786. Completed applications should be completed online or emailed to Wilson.
