Sept 11 Speaker: Wayne Kostroski, Founder, Taste of the NFL
September 5, 2025 - "Bringing Out the Best: Team Building". Wayne Kostroski is a successful and nationally known restaurateur. His career includes experience with some of the country’s finest restaurants and restaurant companies. Kostroski is a co-owner of Cuisine Concepts, which includes Bar Abilene in Uptown Minneapolis, Tejas at 50th and France in Edina, the Franklin Street Bakery in Minneapolis, and the consulting division of Cuisine Concepts. In 1992, Kostroski chaired the Restaurant Committee for the Super Bowl XXVI Task Force, as well as creating and producing the first Taste of the NFL, an annual event that brings top chefs and alumni players from each of the NFL cities to the Super Bowl host city for a fun-filled, food-sampling gala. Sunday, Sept 14 - Car Show, 50th & France
Mark your calendar for the 2025 Rotary Club of Edina car show to be held SUNDAY, September 14 from Noon to 4 pm at 50th and France. This show has become one of the area's largest car shows and car registration has already sold out. Watch the web and Barker for further event details and volunteer opportunities. Sponsorship proceeds go local community non-profits via the Edina Rotary Foundation with $133,500 raised since 2019.
RAMP CLOSURE NEWS-HWY 100/VERNON AVE
On Sept. 15, MnDOT will close all of the remaining Minnesota Highway 100 off ramps and all but one on ramp at West 50th Street/Vernon Avenue as part of the bridge and interchange project. They are expected to be closed until mid-November. This will have significant impacts to the Grandview and 50th & France areas, with our meeting location at the Edina Country Club smack dab in the middle! Private helicopter parking may be available to the highest bidder at the south end of ECC parking lot :). Stay tuned for detour route suggestions.

You might be able to get some holiday shopping done. You can purchase $25, $75 or $100 purses today through September 18. Accepting cash, credit card, PayPal, Venmo for pre-sale and at the event for ERF related items.$$$$$

GALA PRE-SALE – Money Purses $25, $75 & $100 available at Sept 4, 11 and 18 Rotary meetings. Chips will be used for casino games and gift store. Accepting cash, credit card, PayPal, Venmo for pre-sale and at the event for ERF related items.
GALA EVENT CASH BAR ONLY. NO electronic payments are accepted at the Interlachen event bars. COCKTAILS must be purchased with CASH ONLY. NO ATM is onsite. Golf club reciprocity billing may be available. Check with your bartender before ordering.

Jennifer E. Jones is a Canadian communications executive. She was president of Rotary International for 2022–23, the first woman to be selected in the 117-year history of the organization.
 
Jones first experienced a Rotary meeting when only men were allowed to join. She was working as a reporter in the 1980s and she would attend meetings as a guest so that she could report on them. It took a High Court ruling for Rotary to accept women members and she joined in 1996. Jones is a member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland.

2025 Gala Tickets May Sell out Soon!
The 2025 theme for the Edina Rotary Foundation annual fundraising gala is "Hearts of Gold". This event will take place on Saturday, September 27 at Interlachen Country Club, Edina. Event tickets are selling fast and may sell out before Sept 5. If you're serious about attending, buy your tickets sooner than later.
 
The primary goal of ERF's annual fundraiser is to raise funds that directly support local non-profit programs and initiatives, effectively providing a financial lifeline for the work done in our community. Raffle Ticket Stub/Unsold Tickets by Sept. 22
All Hearts of Gold Gala raffle ticket have been distributed either in-person or via USPS mail. Please return completed raffle tickets and payment to Becci Michalski or send to Edina Rotary Foundation, PO Box 24481, Edina MN 55424 by Sept 22. Any unsold raffle tickets as packs or individual tickets should be returned to Becci Michalski by Sept. 22. Per state and city permit guidelines, all tickets and stubs must be accounted for before the drawing on Sept 27.

Your District Governor Line has begun the process to select our 2028-29 District Governor. If you have served as a District 5950 club president and meet the other qualifications:
  1. be an active member in good standing of a functioning club in the district.
  2. have served as club president for a full term or as charter president for at least six months prior to the application submission.
  3. demonstrate willingness, commitment, and ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a governor

by creating mutually beneficial partnerships with specially
trained dogs. They train 6 types of assistance dogs for
mobility assistance, hearing assistance, seizure assist,
diabetes and autism assistance. Did you know it costs
nearly $45,000 to train dogs and they are given to their
partner free of charge?,
