Rep. Dario Anselmo to speak at June 1 meeting

The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Rep. Dario Anselmo as program speaker at the Thursday, June 1, meeting. Anselmo represents District 49A in the Minnesota House of Representatives, which includes Edina.

New members Don Andersen and Mike Andersen will be officially inducted into the club at the meeting.

Rotary VDG/Happy Hour is June 7

The next Rotary Vocational Development Group will be Wednesday, June 7.

Once a month, Edina Rotarians have a chance to connect with other club members, and any guests, at the happy hour. This Rotary event is held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Mezz at the Lunds & Byerly's on France Avenue in Edina. The meeting will feature a brief presentation from a featured Rotarian, plus time for introductions, networking and questions. The June speaker is Jodi Tervo Roberts, a member of the Edina Morningside Rotary Club. The Rotary Club of Edina and EMRC collaborate on this event.

There will be no gathering in July. Contact Renee Harberts for more information.

WHAT: Rotary Club of Edina Family Picnic, featuring yard games and other mixers, as well as children's activities. The picnic will be catered by Famous Dave's.

WHEN: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 15

WHERE: Three Rivers Park District's Bryan Lake Park, 6800 Rowland Road, Eden Prairie

WHO: Rotarians, significant others, children, grandchildren

Save the date: EMRC Golf Tournament Sept. 25

WHAT: Second-annual Patrick D. Kennedy Golf Tournament benefiting Edina Morningside Rotary Club grant recipients. There will be a variety of on-course friendly competitions and prize opportunities. Enjoy lunch before heading out for your round of golf. At end of the day we will celebrate with a dinner, silent auction and an awards ceremony.

WHERE: Mendakota Country Club, 2075 Mendakota Drive, Mendota Heights

WHO: Individual golfers as well as groups are welcome. It's not too early to get your foursome committed—please reach out to as many golfers and potential sponsors as possible.

Rotarians Make-A-Meal at Cornerstone

Rotarians and guests held a Make-A-Meal event at Cornerstone Tuesday, May 30. At this Community Service Committee project, volunteers prepared and served a meal for Cornerstone clients and their children. Cornerstone, located in Bloomington, was the recipient of an Edina Rotary Foundation local grant this Rotary year.

Community Service—Local Projects Director Kip Peterson and Nate Wenner chaired the project.

The eighth annual Chrysanne Manoles Women in Leadership Award was given out at the May 25 Rotary Club of Edina meeting. The 2017 winner was Lauren Morse-Wendt, Mission and Ministry Developer for Edina Community Lutheran Church. Morse-Wendt was nominated for her work bringing the 66 West project to fruition. Last year's winner, former Edina City Council member Ann Swenson, was the speaker at the meeting.

New member Jennifer Shinners was officially inducted into the club at the meeting. Rotarian Theresa Bea Halverson gave her classification talk.
