Dr. Abul Sharah is the founder of International Village Clinic. Dr. Sharah immigrated to the United States in 1972, where he had a 27-year professional career in executive and management positions at companies including Honeywell, Inc., MTS Systems Corporation and Tectonics Research. Dr. Sharah took an early retirement in 1999 to establish International Village Clinic (IVC). He launched a healthcare program in the poor villages of northeastern India in 2002. IVC is providing curative and prevention healthcare services to approximately ¼ million people per year in India. IVC started an English medium school in village Marufpur in 2018. Abul spends 3 to 6 months every year on the project site in India pursuing his mission of love and service to the less fortunate in the impoverished villages of rural India. Rotary Club of Edina Past President Shelly Loberg recently recognized a Rotarian for outstanding service to the club and community. Kaylin Eidsness was named “Rotarian of the Year.”

Eidsness, who joined the club in 2013, co-chaired the Edina Rotary Foundation’s annual fundraiser, “Bootleggers’ Ball.” A talented graphic designer, Eidsness designed the logo and materials for the 2023 fundraiser, as well as materials for most of the club’s fundraisers for the past decade. She is also a longtime member of the club’s Public Image Committee and was an instrumental member of the Program Committee for the 2023-2024 Rotary year, finding and assisting speakers for weekly meetings.

Bob Scott, a member since 2023, was named the club’s Volunteer of the Year. Scott served on the club’s Fundraiser, Scholarships and Women in Leadership Award committees.

Jennifer Bennerotte was presented with a Distinguished Service Award. She co-chaired the annual fundraiser with Eidsness; chaired the Scholarships, Women in Leadership Award and third-grade literacy program committees and served on the Community Service – Local Grants and Public Image committees.

Eidsness, Scott and Bennerotte each received a plaque for their dedicated service during the 2023-2024 Rotary year, which ended June 30.

The Rotary Club of Edina, with support from the 50th & France Business & Professional Association and Explore Edina, will host the sixth-annual Edina Car Show noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, in downtown Edina. This a free to attend event and you can get the latest details by clicking HERE.
