The next Rotary Vocational Development Group will be tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 6.
Once a month, Edina Rotarians have a chance to connect with other club members, and any guests, at the happy hour. This Rotary event is held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Mezz at the Lunds & Byerly's in Edina. The meeting will feature a brief presentation from a featured Rotarian, plus time for introductions, networking and questions. The speaker for the Wednesday, Sept. 6, gathering will be Skip Thomas. The Rotary Club of Edina and EMRC collaborate on this event.

Our Charter Members and Past Presidents will be recognized and Edina Historical Society Executive Director Jennifer Adam will give a presentation on the Club's history.

The Rotary Club of Edina is supporting a project of the Rotary Club of Minneapolis to build female pit latrines and washing facilities at a school in South Sudan and distribute sanitary pad kits and teach a feminine hygiene course to female students there.
The Rotary Club of Edina will contribute $2,000 toward the construction and education project, which is estimated to cost $15,000. The project is scheduled to begin in October and be complete by June 1, 2018.

The Rotary Club of Edina is collecting sewing and knitting supplies to create a sewing center in Uganda near one of the largest refugee camps in the world. Donations can be dropped off at the Edina Chamber of Commerce, 3300 Edinborough Way, or at the club’s weekly 12:15 p.m. Thursday meeting at the Edina Country Club, 5100 Wooddale Ave.
The project is being spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Maple Grove. Rotarians are collecting sewing machines, fabric, thread, needles, scissors, buttons, yarn, knitting needles, crochet hooks and other sewing, knitting and crocheting supplies.
Volunteers are needed at this year's Camp Enterprise to help with technology. This year's Camp Enterprise is Thursday, Nov. 2, through Nov. 4, and volunteers would need to be there Thursday at noon through Saturday afternoon. The volunteer(s) would make sure microphones, LCD projectors, etc. are all working properly.

As summer is winding down and fall is in the air, the Rotary Club of Edina held its weekly meeting Thursday, Aug. 31, at the Edina Country Club. The Minnesota State Fair is now half way through its run, Labor Day weekend is upon us and schools everywhere are ready to resume. The speaker at the meeting was Chris O'Brien, Chief Commercial Officer for C.H. Robinson.
