American Red Cross MN CEO to speak Feb. 15

The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Phil Hansen as program speaker at the Thursday, Feb. 15, meeting. Hansen is the Regional CEO for the American Red Cross Minnesota Region. He will speak about "Down the Street. Across the Country. Around the World. The American Red Cross."

Rotarian Heather Edelson will give her Classification Talk at the meeting.

Met Council member Steve Elkins set for Feb. 8

The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Steve Elkins as program speaker at the Thursday, Feb. 8, meeting. Elkins is a member of the Metropolitan Council. He lives in Bloomington, and represents District 5 on the Met Council, which includes the Hennepin County cities of Bloomington, Edina, Hopkins, and Richfield, and the unorganized territory of Fort Snelling.

Rotarian Bonnie Rolstad will give her Classification Talk at the meeting.

Next Rotary Happy Hour is tonight, Feb. 7

The next Rotary Vocational Development Group will be tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Once a month, Edina Rotarians have a chance to connect with other club members, and any guests, at the happy hour. This Rotary event is held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Mezz at the Lunds & Byerly's in Edina. The meeting will feature a brief presentation from a featured Rotarian, plus time for introductions, networking and questions. The featured speaker at the Feb. 7 gathering will be Ken Andersen. The Rotary Club of Edina and EMRC collaborate on this event.

Skate to End Polio is this Friday, Feb. 16

WHAT: Interact Club of Edina's Skate to End Polio
WHEN: 8 to 9:30 p.m. this, Friday, Feb. 16
WHERE: Braemar Arena's Backyard Rink
WHY: All proceeds go towards Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign
WHO: All ages welcome! Rotarians, family and friends are all invited.
INFO: Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for kids, and can be bought the day of the event, or in advance by contacting Edina Rotarian Josh Sprague. The event is sponsored by the Interact Club of Edina, Rotary Club of Edina and Edina Morningside Rotary Club.

WHEN: 5:30 p.m. pre-show gathering with drinks and a cash bar/menu and 7:30 show on Wednesday, April 25

WHERE: Pre-party at Rock Bottom Brewery, show at the Orpheum Theater right across the street

WHO: Any Rotarians and guests

INFO: Must register online for one of three options—just pre-party, just show or both pre-party and show. There are two options for tickets—main floor or balcony. The program speaker for the Feb. 1 Rotary Club of Edina meeting was Dale Kurschner, editor in chief at Twin Cities Business magazine.

One of our past presidents, Wooj Byun, had a special guest at the meeting. Jung Ho Lee, a student mathematician that defected from North Korea to South Korea, shared his story with us, joined by one of his professors, K. R. Choi.

And longtime Rotarian Frank Cardarelle was honored with a Rotary Legacy video, introduced by another past president, Steve Slyce.
