The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Matt Halley as program speaker at the Thursday, Dec. 6, meeting. He joined Cookie Cart as its Executive Director in 2004. Under his leadership Cookie Cart has grown from grass roots organization in North Minneapolis to one of the largest youth employment training program in the Twin Cities.

 

 

The next Rotary Vocational Development Group will be Wednesday, Dec. 5.
 

Once a month, Edina Rotarians have a chance to connect with other club members, and any guests, at the happy hour. This Rotary event is held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Mezz at the Lunds & Byerly's in Edina. The meeting will feature a brief presentation from a featured Rotarian, plus time for introductions, networking and questions. The Rotary Club of Edina and EMRC collaborate on this event.

 

 

 

The Rotary Club of Edina is once again collecting holiday gifts for families in need in our community. Rotarian Jean Morrison is spearheading the Holiday Giving Program, which will be donating to CornerStone and 66 West again this year. Members are asked to bring UNWRAPPED gifts and gift cards for children of any age (infant all the way through teens) as well as gifts for moms, dads, and families served by CornerStone. This year, gift cards to Macy's or Marshalls were also requested for the residents at 66 West to buy clothing for job interviews. The donations can be dropped off at the Edina Country Club at Rotary meetings Dec. 6 or 13, or at the Holiday Party on Thursday, Dec. 20. Cash or check donations are also welcome. Jean will take the funds donated and buy gift cards or other gifts to be donated as well. 

 

 

 

Baby, it's cold outside! So the Rotary Club of Edina Holiday Party must be right around the corner! The annual holiday gathering will be Thursday, Dec. 20, starting at 5:30 p.m. Join your fellow Rotarians and their guests for hearty appetizers and a cash bar at the Edina Country Club. Linda Peterson, of the incredibly talented Peterson Family, will be performing to put everyone in the holiday spirit!

 

Please register if you plan to attend so we can plan for the party. The registration deadline is Friday, Dec. 14. We have had record registration so far—so don't miss out celebrating the holidays with your fellow Rotarians!

 

There is NO regular Rotary Club of Edina meeting Dec. 20 or 27. 

 

On behalf of our board of directors, nursing staff and volunteers, and most of all our patients and their families, THANK YOU for the Rotary Club of Edina's exceptional generosity once again through bringing us the gift of three boxes of Thanksgiving food...and so much more! We are so pleased with your kindness. The food was absolutely terrific, as can be attested by the 40 or more guests we had for our main meal on Thanksgiving. And if that isn't enough, the leftovers carried us into the next days in various ways. 

So my dear friends, I say "thank you" for your continued kindness and generosity to our Little Hospice and each of us. You make a difference. We are all so blessed by your special friendship.

The program speaker at the Nov. 29 Rotary Club of Edina meeting was Harvey Newcomb, Director of Principal Gifts for The Rotary Foundation. 

 

John Schwarz was honored with a Major Donor award at the meeting for his generosity in giving to The Rotary Foundation. Joel Jennings presented John with the honor. Congratulations, John!
