The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Philip Lukhachi as program speaker at the Thursday, April 16, meeting. Lukhachi has many connections to our Club, one of them being a member of "Team Moses," the group of Rotarians and others that audit Moses' education and upbringing in Kenya. Lukhachi will share his personal story of the long journey to citizenship for himself and his family. His talk is titled, "An Immigrant's Story."

Lukhachi grew up in the Mathare Valley Slum in Nairobi, Kenya. He worked at the Mathare Valley School, which was supported by the Rotary Club of Edina years ago. This was a project initiated by Edina Rotarian John Schwarz.

Lukhachi came to Minnesota on a green card six years ago. He became a citizen in 2013, and his family joined him on Labor Day, 2014. His family includes his wife, who is a doctor, and two young children.

He has worked a variety of jobs in Minnesota, and is currently an employee of Mortenson Company, the developers of the new Vikings stadium in downtown Minneapolis.

Terry Moore will be officially inducted into the Club at the meeting.

Rotary Club of Edina meets at 12:15 p.m. Thursdays at the Edina Country Club. All are welcome. Cost for lunch and the program is $18.
