Our own Bob Solheim, longtime Rotary Club of Edina member and a past president of the Club, will be the program speaker at the Thursday, May 14, meeting. He will speak about "The Magic of Hospice." His talk will focus on the philosophy of hospice and the history of Rotary Club of Edina's amazing support of a community asset known as Little Hospice.

Bob has a vast and varied resume—from court reporter to director of Northern Technical School of Business, from district manager at a life insurance company to co-fonder and president of several companies in personal injury claims, annuities, and temporary service employment. In 1996, he co-founded N.C. Little Memorial Hospice, the state's first eight-bed residential hospice. He was inspired to open the hospice in memory of his friend, Newton Little, who died in 1992 in a nursing home. Little Hospice has cared for over 3,700 terminally ill patients and their families in the past 19 years.

He is a proud member of the TorskeClubben and Sons of Norway. He has also served on several boards, including for the Southdale YMCA, Fairview Southdale Hospital, and Rotary Club of Edina and the Edina Rotary Foundation.

Bob is married to fellow Rotarian Patti Ellingson-Solheim (also a past president of our Club) and together they have five children and five grandchildren. They enjoy tennis, rollerblading, motorcycling, magic, and conducting Bible studies/worship services.

The Rotary Club of Edina meets Thursday at 12:15 p.m. at the Edina Country Club. All are welcome. Cost for lunch and the program is $18.
