The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Rick Nelson as program speaker at the Thursday, July 30, meeting. Nelson is the restaurant critic for the Star Tribune, and recently gave up his anonymity as an undercover restaurant reviewer and allowed the public to know what he looked like—and if they were eating at the same restaurant as him.

It is Prospective Member Day at the meeting! All Rotarians are encouraged to bring friends or colleagues that are interested in learning more about Rotary and our club. Lunch for prospective members is on the club this week!

Bill Milota will give his Classification Talk at the meeting, and Perfect Attendance Awards will be give out to qualifying members.

Join us for Prospective Member Day at our Thursday, July 30, meeting! Program speaker Rick Nelson, a Minnesota native, will talk about his many years of work as the restaurant critic for the Star Tribune. Nelson recently decided to give up his anonymity, allowing the public to know what he looked like. This allows him to interact face-to-face with readers and the people he covers for the newspaper.

Prior to joining the Star Tribune in 1998, he was a food writer for the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the restaurant critic for the Twin Cities Reader. Nelson has a B.A. in history and an M.B.A. in marketing from the University of Minnesota. He is a James Beard Foundation award winner, and his work has appeared in Food & Wine and Midwest Living magazines, and in four editions of the annual Best Food Writing compilations.

All members are encouraged to bring friends or colleagues to this week's meeting. They can learn more about Rotary International and our club. Lunch is paid for by the club for all prospective members this week. If you do bring a guest, make sure you have them check-in at the desk before the meeting.

Returning member Bill Milota will give his Classification Talk at the July 30 meeting. We will also hand out the 2014–2015 Perfect Attendance Awards for qualifying members. To achieve perfect attendance, a member has to have attended all the regular Rotary Club of Edina meetings, or sent in make ups for each meeting they missed. Our club had a record number of Perfect Attendance Award winners in 2014–2015. Almost 50 Rotarians achieved Perfect Attendance for last Rotary year. Congratulations on your dedication and the great example you set for other club members!

The Rotary Club of Edina meets at 12:15 p.m. Thursdays at the Edina Country Club. Cost for lunch and the program is $19 for adults, $12 for children. Note that prospective members to the club are free. Come check us out!
