Longtime Rotary Club of Edina member Dennis Bock passed away March 28, 2017. His funeral was Monday, April 3, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Edina. Denny was president of our club in 1984–1985.

Bock, Dennis J. (86) of Edina passed away on March 28, 2017. Preceded in death by his parents; Walter and Colette Bock, brother Dale Bock, and sister Judy Bock. Denny is survived by wife, Donna, along with siblings, Janet (Richard) Johnson, Carleen (Milo) Tiefenthaler, sister-in-law Rose Bock, nieces/nephews, and members of the Heithoff family. Denny and Donna have four sons/daughters-in-law along with eight grandchildren. David and Heidi (Chris, Cory) of Lakeville, Kevin and Carmen (Carson, Connor) of Eagan, Kent and Sue (Carter, Caroline) of Detroit, Tom and Linda (Sam and Eva) of Andover. A native of Templeton, Iowa; he attended Sacred Heart Catholic School through fourth grade. The family moved to Carroll, Iowa, in 1939 where Denny graduated from Carroll High in 1947. He went to Iowa State Teachers College (Cedar Falls, Iowa) and enlisted in the Air Force in 1951. Denny was stationed in Florida at Cape Canaveral (now Kennedy Space Center) until being discharged from the service in 1954. He immediately enrolled at Iowa State College (Ames, Iowa) and received a degree in Civil Engineering in 1956. Denny continued his education at Drake University (Des Moines, Iowa) and received his Masters Degree in 1961. While at Iowa State, he was a student member and past president of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. In 1955, Denny married Donna Mae Heithoff of Templeton, Iowa, and they've lived happily ever after for 62 years. After graduation, Denny went to work for Northwestern Bell with various assignments in Des Moines, Davenport, Omaha, and Minneapolis. He retired from the position of Vice President at US West in 1993 after 37 years of service to "Ma Bell". A few years before retirement, they purchased a home in Scottsdale, Arizona, and spent the next 25 years wintering in the sun before coming back to Edina full-time in 2013. Denny has been a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church since 1965, where he helped with teaching youth religion classes. He and Donna also belonged to a parish of the same name in Scottsdale. He was actively involved with the Edina Rotary and a past president (1984–1985). Denny liked following all Minnesota professional and college sports teams, but got the most joy watching his kids and grandkids compete in their local athletic associations and tournaments. In addition to his wonderful wife, Denny was also very passionate about golf and spending time on the course with the "Bock Boys" and his weekly foursome friends at Interlachen Country Club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by Fr. Tim Rudolphi at St. Patrick's Catholic Church (Edina) on Monday, April 3. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Guests are welcome to join the family for a social reception after the mass. The interment will be at the Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
